CRAM Campaign (The HUB)
CRAM has a new vision: creating a one-stop service center dedicated to meeting the needs of ex-offenders and their families, veterans, and other underserved populations in the capitol city. The HUB, the Harrisburg Uptown Building, represents that vision. Formerly the Hamilton Health Center located at 1821 Fulton Street,
The HUB offers 18,000 square feet of opportunity.
Initial occupants and service providers will be CRAM; The L.E.A.D.E.R. Project; T.L.C. Construction & Renovations LLC; TLC Work-based Training Program, Inc.; and the Harrisburg Regional Diversity Coalition. Working together, we plan to expand services to greater Harrisburg and to build new residences on the 1.4 acres of vacant lot that once housed residential homes. Our rebuilding will create affordable properties in the immediate neighborhood. We believe that, when realized, this vision can be replicated throughout the state and the nation.
Since 2002, CRAM has received financial support from local foundations, federal grants, churches and many other donors. Our primary sponsor is former Governor George M. Leader’s family. Their Leader Family Foundation has made a five-year financial commitment, enabling us to offer programs in five Pennsylvania
counties.
To bring The HUB vision to fruition, we need your help. Our initial goal is to raise $500,000: $250,000 to purchase the building and $250,000 to renovate and cover initial operations. We ask that you support us, and the city, through a donation or pledge to our Capital Campaign. There are two easy ways for you to make your gift:
- Make your contribution directly to CRAM at 509 Division Street, P.O. Box 5464, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or
- You can make your gift through our administrative partner, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC). If you choose this option, you can send your check to TFEC at PO Box 678, Harrisburg, PA 17108 or you can make a gift online using this address:
Your contribution to this historic project will be good for Harrisburg. Ex-offenders are often barred from affordable housing and life-sustaining employment because of their criminal records. Their families are impacted as well. Your support will have an enduring impact by meeting basic human needs and expanding
employment options for hard-to-place individuals. Ultimately your contribution will help reduce crime and
promote safety in the community.
The proposal for the Capital Campaign gives more information about how The HUB will operate and how donated funds will be used. You may request a copy of the proposal or learn more about the project by contacting me by email at craminc@comcast.net or by telephone at 717-234-3664.
